The full moon is a time of culmination, fruition, clarity, and attainment of desires. It is when we reflect on what patterns and behaviors have not been working, and we release them to the universe. The illumination of the full moon sheds light on our subconscious allowing a better understanding of our inner thoughts. It is a time of harvest when we are able to reap the benefits of what was sewn during the new moon. The full moon also represents the mother, since it is ripe and full similar to the belly of a pregnant, expecting mother. This brings a nurturing and fertile aspect to this lunar phase. However, some tension may arise as the polarity of the moon and sun are positioned in antithetical zodiac signs. Each month brings a new dichotomy of opposing forces, and a different type of full moon.
May’s Flower Moon
The Flower Moon is a time of invigoration as we become fully submerged into spring. The flowers blooming, baby birds chirping, and wild strawberries peeking through the grass bring new life filling us with an electric fervor as we embrace each day. With the sun on our faces and the wind at our backs, we are ready to take advantage of every moment gifted to us. The Flower Moon also brings a sense of refreshment and openness as we open our homes to the world around us cleaning out any remaining debris from winter. It is the perfect time for spring cleaning as we get rid of the clutter and organize our lives for the upcoming year. It is important to let go of clothing, furniture, and any other unused items around the house to allow an open flow of energy through our living space. While we clear out our environment, it is essential to make the same transformations within.
A Scorpio’s Transformation
Scorpio is the only zodiac sign that has three stages of three different animal totems symbolizing the transformation one makes. The first is that of the scorpion. During this phase, Scorpio is very true to it’s innate nature of being a water sign, and is ruled by their emotions and instinct. Oftentimes, they have low self-awareness and self-control. This dangerous combination creates a poisonous, vengeful creature who is willing to be manipulative and vindictive to get their way. When a Scorpio becomes aware of their power and abilities, they become an eagle soaring in the sky. While an eagle, their new perspective allows them to be ruled by intellect and rationale. This new lens of practicality launches them into one successful endeavor after another based on their personal goals. However, with the presence of their ego, Scorpios still have the tendency to be manipulative and exploitative. Once they are able to relinquish the existence of their ego, they are able to transcend to the final phase of a phoenix (or dove). The phoenix represents the death and rebirth of a Scorpio into a symbol of peace and healing. It is said that phoenix tears can heal wounds, and a Scorpio’s true nature lies in their power to heal. Once they become self realized about their true power and purpose they are able to flourish into their true nature.
Release & Regenerate
Scorpio is a fixed water sign giving qualities of loyalty, reliability, and goal oriented drive to the emotion based, whimsical attributes of water signs. They are also ruled by the planets Pluto and Mars. Pluto is the planet of death, regeneration, rebirth, and spiritual growth, which is what Scorpios undergo throughout their transformation stages. Mars is the planet of assertion and survival. Scorpio has to learn how to harness these qualities in a loving way in order to be effective. As our subconscious is being pulled to the surface, we are being asked to look at these aspects within ourselves to decide what needs to “die” and degenerate so we can be reborn into our spiritual truth. Awareness of our innate power and relinquishing our ego allows us to rise into our higher selves. With the sun in Taurus, we are able to remain grounded and practical during this major internal shift. Taurus also ensures that we gently nurture ourselves with love and compassion during this process. We must balance finding happiness with what we have and the complex unknown of possibilities that the opposition of the sun in Taurus and moon in Scorpio bring.
Some tools that can help during this process are incense, candles, and crystals. A perfect incense for this full moon is Frankincense and Myrrh. This winning combination promotes spirituality, meditation, and purification. Burning Frankincense and Myrrh during your full moon ceremony will facilitate the connection to your higher self. Some great candles of choice during this time are ones that will promote love, healing, and cleansing. Pinks, purples, and whites can enhance these properties. There are Reiki infused candle options as well. Lastly, the crystal of choice for the Flower Full Scorpio Moon on the 10th is Rainbow Obsidian, which releases energy blockages, heals past traumas, and shines light on unresolved issues. It is a grounding and protective stone since it is a part of the obsidian family, however, it is a bit more gentle and enhances love. With these tools surrounding you during the full moon, write down everything you see within yourself that you want to release in order to embrace your inner power of love and light. Writing itself is a form of release as you are detaching these aspects from your physical form by putting it on paper. This list can be in bullet form, and by no means needs to be the next literary masterpiece. Keep it simple and honest. Once you are finished, submerge your list into water, and picture everything you wrote down dissolving from your body and soul. When the ink has all lifted off of the parchment, the ceremony is complete. Be grateful by thanking your spirit guides for their presence and yourself for making time to self care and self love.
