Candles represent all four of the sacred elements. The wick represents our Mother Gaia of Earth bringing secure, sound structure. The flame represents fire controlling the burning passion within each and every one of us. The essential oils represent water being fluid and flexible allowing for constant change and metamorphosis. Finally the fuel keeping the flame aglow is the last element of air bringing life to the entire process. This reiki infused beauty is blended with lavender, ylang ylang and rosemary to heighten a calming peace over my dream state. I hope everyone is having a lovely evening and sweet slumber.⠀

What is a Totem?

A Totem is a spirit, plant, animal, or symbol that represents a family, clan, or group. Totems often represent the heart and soul of each individual and their ancestry. It is believed that when a Totem enters our life, they are bringing messages of safe advice to aid in our current life situation. When we hear the word “Totem” we often think of Totem poles. These beautiful structures are carvings made from trees along the Northwest American coastline. Each pole tells a story of the clan’s history, acknowledges the passing of a loved one, or even shames someone for bad behavior. Regardless of the representation of the Totem pole, the various symbols and animals used allow the viewer to understand its meaning.

The Dragonfly’s Story

Dragonflies are born in ponds or streams, where they spend the first two years of life. Water represents our subconscious and emotional subtle body. When we are young, we often allow our subconscious to rule our minds as our dreams and fantasies overflow from within. As children, we also allow our emotions to overtake us since we do not yet know how to accept or express them properly. After the first two years, dragonflies sprout wings and take to the skies. Air controls our intellect and communication. When we transform into adulthood, we are expected to balance both our mental and emotional subtle bodies. This allows us to feel fully, think rationally, and communicate effectively.

Dragonfly Totem

The dragonfly represents self-realization, transformation, and adaptability. It enters our life with the message of remembering to live with a lighthearted, effervescent joy as we morph into our higher selves. We are challenged to break away from old habits, and create a new life based on our desires and intentions. Let the dragonfly be your guide as you soar through the mist of confusion and dismay into the fresh air of awakening.
